Batavia Boardwalk Shops

Information for Prospective Vendors

The Batavia Boardwalk Shops Incubator Program is designed to attract small businesses, create more retail shopping, and bring people into Downtown Batavia for both this unique destination and the rest of our downtown.

This program offers an opportunity to sell products and services of interest to patrons. Vendors located in the shops will be exposed to traffic from the Batavia Farmers’ Market, Second Fridays and all other events held downtown. There will also be many promotions coming out of both Batavia MainStreet and the City of Batavia to attract patrons to the Boardwalk Shops.

We only have eight 12×12 shops available and expect a large number of applications in 2021. Your application WILL NOT be considered unless it is complete and submitted with a non-refundable $25 application fee.

Running a business is a big venture and we want you to succeed! This is why we are encouraging all applicants to submit a business plan. If you don’t have one yet, the Small Business Development Center can help you create one.

Deadline to apply is January 31, 2021, at 5 pm.


Vendor Selection

The jury committee will strive to provide diversity in our vendor offerings. Applications will be reviewed with this in mind.

Other applications may be approved that sell similar items. This does not mean you will be the only vendor to sell this product but if approved, you may not add additional products without the approval of the Boardwalk Shop Manager first.

A contract will be provided, and a location assignment will be made by the Boardwalk Shop Manager. All new vendors must participate in marketing and events. All accepted applicants must take a class with the SBDC and other approved training.


Cancellation Policy

No refunds for vendor cancellations will be given. Vendors may not sublet their location to another vendor. Vendors who do so will forfeit their lease and will not receive a refund. Only vendors listed and approved on the original agreement will be allowed.



Electricity is provided and included in rent up to a total of $400 per month for all shops combined. There is a $25 per month Electric Escrow fee that will be charged to each vendor to cover any possible electric excess usage. Should none be used, the fee will be returned at the end of the season.


Sales Tax

All businesses/vendors are required to have a business EIN as well as pay sales tax to the City of Batavia and State of Illinois.


Rent & Shop Hours

Each 12 x 12 Boardwalk Shop will be leased from May through December.

Rent for each shop is $2500 for the season in 2021.

***Please note the dates and times below are the minimum requirements. Vendors may stay open longer than the times listed. Hours on Monday through Thursday are optional.


May 28 – December 19, 2021

Friday: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. ***Shops will be required to be open until  8p.m. on all 2nd Fridays from May – December
Saturday: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Sunday: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

These days and hours are MANDATED. Please consider who can cover your shop if you cannot be there.
