This program offers an opportunity to sell products and services of interest to patrons. Vendors located in the shops will be exposed to traffic from the Batavia Farmers’ Market and all other events held downtown. There will also be many promotions coming out of both Batavia MainStreet and the City of Batavia to attract patrons to the Boardwalk Shops.
We only have 10 12×12 shops available and expect a large number of applications in 2027. Your application WILL NOT be considered unless it is complete and submitted with a non-refundable $25 application fee.
Running a business is a big venture and we want you to succeed! This is why we are encouraging all applicants to submit a business plan. If you don’t have one yet, the Small Business Development Center can help you create one. Please contact Miranda Rodriguez at mrodriguez2@waubonsee.edu or 630-966-4664. The SBDC is hosting free Starting Your Business in Illinois workshops. Click HERE to see available dates and register.
Another resource for entrepreneurs is the Women's Business Development Center. Contact Kristen Gehring, Associate Director of Entrepreneurial Program and Services at kgehring@wbdc.org or 312-853-3477 x 390.
All Boardwalk shops are required to pay sales tax to the City of Batavia/State of Illinois as well as carry insurance on space and products. If your business type requires licensing, proof of that will be required also.
No businesses which require potable water, heating, or preparing of food onsite will be accepted. If your business is a consumable product, all Kane County Health Department rules and regulations must be followed.
Applications for 2026 are no longer being accepted. We will begin accepting applications for 2027 in the fall. Follow the Batavia Boardwalk Shops on Instagram and Facebook for updates or email info@downtownbatavia.com if you have questions.
