The most recent addition to Batavia’s brewery options is none other than Grainology Brewstillery. Grainology is another space that provides exceptional beverages while also integrating themselves seamlessly into the core of what makes Batavia special. Since their grand opening in 2023 Grainology has been hosting weekly events, and most notably is home to Batavia’s indoor farmers market throughout the winter months. Their open and industrial taproom is the ideal space for hosting large gatherings like the farmers market, but is also perfectly suited for a casual hangout with you and your closest friends. Not to be outshined, their craft beers and cocktails (which are made with Grainology liquor) are all delicious, and the sheer variety gives you something new to try every time you visit!

“There’s never a perfect recipe…the beer that I’m most excited about is the one we haven’t made yet.” This has been brewmaster David’s approach to the beers of Energy City Brewing since first opening in 2017. As Batavia’s oldest craft brewery, Energy City has become a favorite not just for those of the Fox River, but nationally as well. Focusing on innovative and creative flavors for their beers, Energy City has set themselves apart as the go to place for beer enthusiasts that are looking to experience something new and exciting.

Only 5 miles North of Batavia on the Fox River is St Charles, another vibrant city that’s home to some of the area’s best craft breweries. St Charles has 4 craft breweries that call it home, and plenty of bars and restaurants that serve local brews as well. In St Charles you’ll find Alter Brewing and Pollyanna Brewing along the Fox River, while Riverlands Brewing Company and 93 Octane Brewery both sit just a few miles west of downtown. Like Batavia, St Charles is a town brimming with character, one that’s always putting together community events, and of course home to some of the Fox’s best breweries!

Between Batavia and St Charles is Geneva, a bustling city of shops, restaurants, and of course breweries! Similar to Batavia, Geneva is home to three distinct breweries. Both Art History Brewing and Penrose Brewing are home to delicious beers and wonderful taprooms, while the classic Stockholm’s not only features similarly superb beers, but also a full scale restaurant as well!
Then there’s Aurora, which is only 7 miles or so south of Batavia on the Fox River. Technically there’s Aurora and North Aurora, both of which are home to two unique craft breweries. In North Aurora there’s the award winning Brother Chimp Brewing and sustainably minded BBGB Brewery. Then in Aurora there’s the long standing Two Brothers Brewing Roundhouse location, as well as the newly opened Foreign Exchange Brewing. Each of these 4 breweries is definitely worth a visit the next time you’re looking to try some delicious beer along the Fox River!

Below is a list of liquor stores, bars, and restaurants that all feature craft beers from Batavia, St Charles, Geneva, Aurora, North Aurora, as well as many of the other suburbs and Chicago itself!

As mentioned earlier, the breweries of Batavia each put together and host a ton of events throughout the year, all of which can be found through their websites and social media accounts. Here in Batavia we also put on events year-round, some of which also feature these incredible breweries.
