Batavia’s Books Between Bites welcomes author Karl Bruhn on May 16
BATAVIA — Batavia's popular monthly lunchtime book program, Books Between Bites, concludes for the season on Thursday, May 16, with Batavian Karl Bruhn sharing a presentation about “Sears Kit Houses in Batavia, Geneva & Beyond.”
He conducted extensive research into several Sears kit houses in our area, and utilized several books about Sears houses, including “Sears Homes of Illinois” by Rosemary Thornton, and “Houses by Mail” by Katherine Cole Stevenson.
Bruhn, a retired history teacher, spent 40 years teaching in Wheaton. He’s been a guest presenter at Books Between Bites for many years and we know you’ll enjoy exploring this topic with him.
This is our final program of the season and we look forward to announcing our 2024-2025 season in August.
The series is hosted from noon to 1 p.m. at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave. The public is invited to attend these free programs, presented September through May on the third Thursday of each month. Reservations are not required.
The program is conducted in the large Founders Room, located on the main level of the Batavia Public Library. Parking is available in the lot just south and adjacent to the library.
People are invited to bring their lunch and eat as they enjoy the program and discussion. Lunch items, beverages and baked goods may be purchased at Flyleaf Bakery Cafe, located just inside the library and adjacent to the meeting room. Books Between Bites was established in 1987 in Batavia by the late Lee C. and Betty Moorehead. The program has been continued by their daughter, Becky Hoag, in partnership and co-sponsorship with the Batavia Public Library.
