Here in Batavia we feel so proud to be able to host a farmers market that flourishes both in the summer and winter seasons.  Batavia LOVES their small businesses. As a result we have an amazing ecosystem of small businesses. Here’s a look at what you can expect from the Batavia Indoor Market at Sturdy Shelter Brewing.

About the Batavia Farmers Market

The Batavia farmers market is hosted outdoors on River Street throughout the summer. Once November hits it is moved inside to Sturdy Shelter Brewing.  The Batavia farmers market is special in that it requires all of our vendors to either make or grow 75% of what they offer at their booth. We also consider our farmers market "hyper-local" with most of our vendors located within an hour of Batavia.  As a result the market is FILLED with high quality, locally made goods that you fall in love with.  If you’re interested in applying to be a vendor, check out our farmers market page here! 

What to Expect at the Winter Market

The indoor farmers' market has been a staple in Batavia for years now.  The Batavia Indoor Farmers market primarily focused on produce, baked goods and other consumables. The market is the perfect spot to meet up with loved ones and pick up some of kitchen must-haves for the week.

Here are some of the products and vendors that you can expect at our local indoor farmers' market:

Though we do not have artisans at the indoor farmers market, you can catch our artisans at our Winterfest Art Market each year a few weeks before the holiday season!

Sturdy Shelter Brewing

Sturdy Shelter Brewing in Batavia Illinois opened their doors at 10 S Shumway Ave in Batavia Illinois back in 2022.  The building itself has a rich history as a community space. That history dates all the way back to the mid-1800s when it was named the Batavia Music Hall!  The space served as a roller rink, an opera house, and movie theater prior to opening up as a brewery.

Known for gathering the community Sturdy Shelter hosts MANY events in their space. Whether it be the indoor farmers market, their weekly trivia night, live music, and so many more.  To check out all of the events they have to offer, check out their calendar here!
The winter farmers market is one of just a few winter markets in the Chicagoland area. The Saturday market has become a gathering place for so many in our community as well as people from all over the state.
