- Talk Sturdy to Me Speaker Series: "Impossible Choices: The Reality of Working and Struggling in Batavia" presented by Kathy Evangelista, Executive Director of Batavia United Way, Thursday, July 23, 6:30! What would you do if you couldn't afford all of your essential expenses each month? Through an interactive simulation and discussion, we'll explore the realities facing ALICE households (Asset Limited, Income-Constrained, Employed)—working individuals and families who earn above the poverty level but still struggle to afford basic necessities. Learn how ALICE is impacting our community and gain insight into the impossible choices many of our neighbors face every day. Proceeds support our community pantry! Arrive at 6:30 and grab a beverage; the talk begins at 7 PM. What to expect: 20-30 minute lectures by professors, experts, and specialists. Talks end with a Q&A.
