Super Savvy Senior Expo

BATAVIA, IL – Discover ways to stay active, healthy and engaged at age 50 and beyond at Super Savvy Senior Expo June 12 in Batavia.

Batavia’s annual free resource event, hosted by Batavia Park District, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Eastside Community Center, 14 N. Van Buren St. Adults ages 50 and older and their families and caregivers can browse a wealth of information to improve their quality of life.

Now in its 19th year, the expo showcases more than 30 vendors offering information on active lifestyles, health care, helpers and caregivers, healthy living, travel, finance, education, senior living, entertainment, day trips and volunteer opportunities. Presentations by Dorjath Law Center, Ignite Medical Resorts and Dr. Marco Colella, DMD, PLLC begin at 9:30 a.m. A raffle and refreshments add a festive touch to the event.

The expo is always a well-attended event because older adults can easily explore services, compare healthcare options and discover lifestyle information in a single visit, said event organizer Elisha Sharp.

“Having a one-stop shop removes the stress of researching these topics independently and saves time. We bring local experts, medical professionals and resources directly to the community,” she said.

Stephanie Novack likes the convenience of the event. “I go every year because it offers a wealth of information under one roof.”

Attendees receive a program listing all the vendors and a map of the event space, so they can easily find the vendors with their area of interest. “It’s easy to find the topics and vendors that interest me,” said Hannelore Alajoki.

The variety of vendors provide many interesting topics for seniors, Sharp noted, and having direct access to experts helps them live healthy, active lifestyles. It also helps them build relationships with the service providers they need.

That’s one of the reasons Patty Rosenberg attends the yearly event. “It’s a great resource to find the information I need on healthy living, entertainment, volunteering and travel. Each year I learn something new.”

The event is sponsored by Ignite Medical Resorts, Marco V. Colella DMD, The Landings Dial Senior Living, Dorjath Law Center and the City of Batavia.
