DESCRIPTION:Windmill City Festival blows into town in July \nBATAVIA – Are you ready for some sizzling summer fun? Step right up to the Windmill City Festival. Batavia’s largest summer event returns July 7-9. \nCatch the carnival fun on Houston Street\, along with tasty food and beverages\, live musical entertainment\, several competitions\, games and activities for all ages. \nOrganized by the Batavia Park District and the City of Batavia\, Windmill City Festival returns to downtown Batavia from July 7 to 9. The festival will be open from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday\, July 7\, noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday\, July 8\, and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday\, July 9. \nReturning to rock Batavia are some of Chicago’s favorite bands including The Wayouts\, Modern Day Romeos\, Radio Gaga and Lounge Puppets. Whether they are playing rock ‘n’ roll\, pop\, country or other rhythmic sounds\, these and other crowd-pleasing bands stir up outstanding shows! Come to eat\, drink and dance under the stars! You’ll find activities for everyone – from babies to pets! \nTee off across Depot Pond in the Golf Challenge\, and compete for prizes for a hole-in-one. Or enter your pet in a charming Pet Competition\, where furry and not-so-furry pets can compete in five categories: Best Kisser\, Best Trick\, Highest Jump\, Best Costume and Most Unusual. \nThe Batavia Mother’s Club Foundation will host an adorable Diaper Derby\, where babies participate in a crawling race. \nWhy not share your artistic flair at our Sidewalk Chalk Drawing Contest? Join us and draw what you love about Batavia. Artists of all ages can compete to win “People’s Choice” and “Best of Batavia” categories. \nReturning this year is the Windmill Whirl 5K race along the Fox River. Lace up your running shoes and join in this race that starts at 10 a.m. on Sunday\, July 9. Runners age 21 and up will enjoy a craft beer from Energy City Brewing after the race. \nAll three days of the festival you can also duck into the Depot Museum to cool off\, learn about Batavia’s fascinating history and shop for unique Batavia merchandise.
