SUMMARY:Chop Around the Clock
DESCRIPTION:Wh \n\nat could be more fun than cutting hair for 24 straight hours with friends? This annual event\, The Chop Around the Clock\, helps raise money for a great cause\, The Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House allows families with hospitalized children who are being treated at nearby hospitals or medical facilities to stay free of charge. Houses like these allow families to have a home away from home and focus on what is important\, their child's health. This event is way more than cutting hair. We have free food\, music\, a great raffle\, ice cream eating contest\, bake sale\, and so much laughter and love you can’t believe it! \nGive it a try\, stop down at Foltos on Friday\, May 31 from 4 pm till 4 pm on Saturday\, June 1. Get a free beverage and sandwich\, buy a raffle ticket\, meet wonderful people. \nWe need bakers\, sandwich makers\, sandwich eaters\, entertainment\, raffle prizes\, ticket buyers and people to help set up and take down. We need you! \nThis is our 33rd year and we have donated over $390\,000 to the Ronald McDonald House. If you would like to help\, fantastic! Call me!

Island Ave. Additional activities and local business participation continue throughout the weekend. \nThe June 14 Flag Day Celebration will include a free concert by the Batavia Community Band\, tours of the new Flag Day Monument\, and the return of the popular “Human Flag”— where attendees help create the American Flag holding special cardboard signs. \nAdditional activities include Scouting America games and demonstrations; mural signing for a time capsule; filming thoughts on patriotism; and\, brick\, coin\, and other memorabilia sales. \nThe Flag Day Celebration is an opportunity to learn about Batavia’s Flag Day Monument. The monument also honors veterans\, active military\, first responders and Congressional Medal of Honor recipients from Illinois. \nSaturday\, June 15\, there will be a Liberty Tree\, the first tree dedication in Illinois in preparation for the 250th anniversary of America’s Independence in 2026\, AMERICA 250. Local chapters of the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution are hosting the event. \nSeveral Downtown Batavia businesses are donating a portion of their sales during the Flag Day weekend to support the Flag Day Monument. Businesses will also offer patriotic items for sale. A of participating businesses\, sponsors and other details on the monument and Flag Day festivities will be posted soon on flagdaymonument.com.
