DESCRIPTION:It’s time to sing and dance. Batavia Park District’s free River Rhapsody concert series returns in June. This popular event will showcase eight family-friendly musical performances for all to enjoy. \nLeading off the summer performances on June 11 is a children’s concert with Justin Roberts that includes complimentary popsicles. This event is hosted in partnership with the Batavia Public Library. The concert series runs through Aug. 6\, featuring music for all ages. \nThis fun event will be held along the Riverwalk at the Peg Bond Center\, 151 N. Island Ave.\, from 7:30 - 8:30. Bring family\, friends and portable seating to enjoy the scenic view of the Depot Pond while listening to a wide variety of musical styles\, ranging from rock\, pop and country to soul\, R&B and disco. \n“This year's summer series is exciting because we have many new bands. I am looking forward to hearing Reckless and The Sociables play\,” said event co-chair Bethanne Guidarelli. Reckless is a high-energy rock and country cover band and The Sociables cover a wide variety of beloved rock hits. \nNew this year are theme nights that tie in a fun free activity. The theme nights will include special drinks and free activities led by Batavia community organization. Activities include tie dye on June 25\, rock painting on July 16 and a 1990s craft on Aug 6. \n“Theme nights offer another level of participation by being able to get involved in a fun craft and take something home\,” Guidarelli said. “We are excited to elevate this event for the community.” \nBeer\, wine\, soft drinks and water will be available to purchase.  Fernando's Street Kitchen will serve Mexican cuisine for all to enjoy. DESCRIPTION:Come make messy memories with your littles! This workshop is intended for a minimum of 1 adult and 1 child with the option to add on additional adults and children. Each person will be provided with 1 pound of clay to build and paint a clay creation! The minimum age for attending children is 3. Your instructor will help guide you through hand-building techniques and assist when needed. Adults can bond with their littles as they assist them with their projects. Make separate projects or work on one together! Projects examples will be provided\, but imagination and free styling are welcome and encouraged! This is a 1 1/2-2 hour workshop with minimal clean up from participants required. At the end of your playdate\, each person will get to choose a creation to have fired. (Pottery will need to be glazed and fired. DESCRIPTION:Get ready for SSB's 3rd annual Salsa competition on Sunday\, August 17th\, from 2-4 PM Not the dancing kind of salsa\, but the EATING KIND! Do you think you've got what it takes to win? Start getting ready and perfecting your recipes and secret ingredients! Here's how to participate: This contest is open to all homemade salsa creators. The competition is restricted to non-commercial salsa. The salsa must be made in your home. Please prepare 2 quarts of your salsa in a dated\, labeled sealable container such as a ball or mason jar with sealable lid or a “Zip Lock” type container with sealable lid. All entries will be refrigerated until judging time. Bring your entry to Sturdy Shelter Brewing between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM on 8/17/25. SSB will provide scoresheets\, sampling cups\, and spoons and tortilla chips. Judging will be based on people's choice\, and any leftover food will be available on a first-come\, first-served basis. $10 registration fee to enter a dish\, and it's $5 to be a judge. All proceeds will go directly to support our neighbors in need. This year’s winner will be published in our upcoming Sturdy Shelter Brewing Cookbook!s
