SUMMARY:River Rhapsody Concert - Superfly Symphony
DESCRIPTION:It’s time to sing and dance. Batavia Park District’s free River Rhapsody concert series returns in June. This popular event will showcase eight family-friendly musical performances for all to enjoy. \nLeading off the summer performances on June 11 is a children’s concert with Justin Roberts that includes complimentary popsicles. This event is hosted in partnership with the Batavia Public Library. The concert series runs through Aug. 6\, featuring music for all ages. \nThis fun event will be held along the Riverwalk at the Peg Bond Center\, 151 N. Island Ave.\, from 7:30 - 8:30. Bring family\, friends and portable seating to enjoy the scenic view of the Depot Pond while listening to a wide variety of musical styles\, ranging from rock\, pop and country to soul\, R&B and disco. \n“This year's summer series is exciting because we have many new bands. I am looking forward to hearing Reckless and The Sociables play\,” said event co-chair Bethanne Guidarelli. Reckless is a high-energy rock and country cover band and The Sociables cover a wide variety of beloved rock hits. \nNew this year are theme nights that tie in a fun free activity. The theme nights will include special drinks and free activities led by Batavia community organization. Activities include tie dye on June 25\, rock painting on July 16 and a 1990s craft on Aug 6. \n“Theme nights offer another level of participation by being able to get involved in a fun craft and take something home\,” Guidarelli said. “We are excited to elevate this event for the community.” \nBeer\, wine\, soft drinks and water will be available to purchase.  Fernando's Street Kitchen will serve Mexican cuisine for all to enjoy. SUMMARY:Windmill City Festival
DESCRIPTION:Windmill City Festival has long been a staple of the community and has become a tradition for many families\, formerly called Batavia Boo Boo Days until 1978. \nThe festival had its humble beginnings as a sidewalk sale in 1956.  The idea of Boo Boo Days was introduced by Arthur Swanson of the Batavia Chamber of Commerce.  The idea was that downtown merchants would set out clearance items\, overstock\, or end of season goods at deeply discounted prices. It was an instant success! \nAs the interest (and number of shoppers!) grew\, Boo Boo Days started adding refreshments and activities for kids so the adults could shop all day.   To make employees and festival officials more recognizable\, they were issues hats or dressed in costume to match the festival’s theme. \nGradually\, the focus of the festival moved away from the bargains.  In the 1970s\, events such as concerts\, the crowning of Miss Batavia\, community plays\, marathons and even competitions such as the annual Tug of War event were all held during Boo Boo Days.  In 1978\, the name was officially changed to “Windmill City Fest” to reflect Batavia’s history and to better encompass the city wide – multi day celebration it had become. \nBatavians still look forward to the carnival-like event every year\, so mark your calendar and be sure to drop by the downtown area to enjoy Batavia's biggest event of the summer! \nThe Windmill City Festival Committee includes representatives from the Batavia Park District and the City of Batavia.

DESCRIPTION:Come make messy memories with your littles! This workshop is intended for a minimum of 1 adult and 1 child with the option to add on additional adults and children. Each person will be provided with 1 pound of clay to build and paint a clay creation! The minimum age for attending children is 3. Your instructor will help guide you through hand-building techniques and assist when needed. Adults can bond with their littles as they assist them with their projects. Make separate projects or work on one together! Projects examples will be provided\, but imagination and free styling are welcome and encouraged! This is a 1 1/2-2 hour workshop with minimal clean up from participants required. At the end of your playdate\, each person will get to choose a creation to have fired. (Pottery will need to be glazed and fired. DESCRIPTION:  \nIt’s time to sing and dance. Batavia Park District’s free River Rhapsody concert series returns in June. This popular event will showcase eight family-friendly musical performances for all to enjoy. \nLeading off the summer performances on June 11 is a children’s concert with Justin Roberts that includes complimentary popsicles. This event is hosted in partnership with the Batavia Public Library. The concert series runs through Aug. 6\, featuring music for all ages. \nThis fun event will be held along the Riverwalk at the Peg Bond Center\, 151 N. Island Ave.\, from 7:30 - 8:30. Bring family\, friends and portable seating to enjoy the scenic view of the Depot Pond while listening to a wide variety of musical styles\, ranging from rock\, pop and country to soul\, R&B and disco. \n“This year's summer series is exciting because we have many new bands. I am looking forward to hearing Reckless and The Sociables play\,” said event co-chair Bethanne Guidarelli. Reckless is a high-energy rock and country cover band and The Sociables cover a wide variety of beloved rock hits. \nNew this year are theme nights that tie in a fun free activity. The theme nights will include special drinks and free activities led by Batavia community organization. Activities include tie dye on June 25\, rock painting on July 16 and a 1990s craft on Aug 6. \n“Theme nights offer another level of participation by being able to get involved in a fun craft and take something home\,” Guidarelli said. “We are excited to elevate this event for the community.” \nBeer\, wine\, soft drinks and water will be available to purchase.  Fernando's Street Kitchen will serve Mexican cuisine for all to enjoy. SUMMARY:River Rhapsody Concert - The Sociables
DESCRIPTION:It’s time to sing and dance. Batavia Park District’s free River Rhapsody concert series returns in June. This popular event will showcase eight family-friendly musical performances for all to enjoy. \nLeading off the summer performances on June 11 is a children’s concert with Justin Roberts that includes complimentary popsicles. This event is hosted in partnership with the Batavia Public Library. The concert series runs through Aug. 6\, featuring music for all ages. \nThis fun event will be held along the Riverwalk at the Peg Bond Center\, 151 N. Island Ave.\, from 7:30 - 8:30. Bring family\, friends and portable seating to enjoy the scenic view of the Depot Pond while listening to a wide variety of musical styles\, ranging from rock\, pop and country to soul\, R&B and disco. \n“This year's summer series is exciting because we have many new bands. I am looking forward to hearing Reckless and The Sociables play\,” said event co-chair Bethanne Guidarelli. Reckless is a high-energy rock and country cover band and The Sociables cover a wide variety of beloved rock hits. \nNew this year are theme nights that tie in a fun free activity. The theme nights will include special drinks and free activities led by Batavia community organization. Activities include tie dye on June 25\, rock painting on July 16 and a 1990s craft on Aug 6. \n“Theme nights offer another level of participation by being able to get involved in a fun craft and take something home\,” Guidarelli said. “We are excited to elevate this event for the community.” \nBeer\, wine\, soft drinks and water will be available to purchase.  Fernando's Street Kitchen will serve Mexican cuisine for all to enjoy.
