SUMMARY:Empty Bowls Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:A Woodturning Fundraiser for Local Food Pantries \nThe Chicago Woodturners and the Windy City Woodturners invite everyone to join them\non October 12\, 2024\, at the Boardwalk Shops of Batavia\, located at the intersection of Wilson\nSt. and IL Rt. 25 in beautiful downtown Batavia. Volunteer members of both woodturning clubs\nwill be selling donated bowls and other wood turned items in this outdoor pop-up market to\nraise funds for the Northern Illinois Food Bank\, the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry and the Fox\nValley Food for Health organizations. The fundraiser begins at 9:00 AM and will go until 4:00\npm or until the bowls and other hand-made items are sold out. Shoppers should arrive early\nfor best selection.\nThe pop-up shop will feature wooden\, hand-crafted\, one of a kind items produced by\nlocal artisans. Each item would make a beautiful holiday gift for your friends or family\nmembers\, or perhaps you might find that ‘something perfect’ for your home décor.\nThe Batavia Boardwalk Shop owners are also participating in the Empty Bowls event by\ncollecting canned goods and other food pantry staples. All customers who bring food pantry\nitems to the fundraiser or make a purchase at any of the Boardwalk Shops on October 12th\, will\nbe eligible to win a gift basket filled with items donated by the Boardwalk Shops.\nThe Chicago Woodturners and the Windy City Woodturners are Chapters of the\nAmerican Association of Woodturners. These clubs are dedicated to woodturning education\nand can often be seen at local schools and civic events. Both clubs regularly participate in civic\noutreach activities including Empty Bowls for Food\, Pens for Troops\, Beads of Courage boxes\nand the WIT Wig Stand Initiative\, each of which benefit local non-profit agencies.
