MainStreet Hosts "The Avenue Sidewalk Sale" 06-05-2008 Batavia, IL: The Batavia MainStreet Economic Restructuring Committee presents the second annual “Avenue Sidewalk Sale” on Saturday July 12th from 9 am – 4 pm. The sidewalk sale is being held in conjunction with Windmill City Fest. MainStreet encourages downtown merchants to sign up for a space on Rt. 31, either in front of an existing storefront or on the lawn at the Batavia Public Library. Space is set up for a 10’x10’ pop up tent and the cost to participate is $25, which goes into coop advertising for the event. Businesses should bring their own tent, table, chairs and engaging merchandise, or services for sale or use this as an opportunity to promote their business. Chairperson Addie Marconi of Bee-Attitudes Antiques invites area businesses to join in, “We invite all our neighbors on the Avenue to move out to the sidewalk and those not on the Avenue to come and join us for a day of fun and sales outdoors.” Marconi explains, “Our committee would like to see dozens of businesses participate.” Interested area businesses and individuals may contact MainStreet at 630-761-3528 or can stop in Bee-Attitudes Antiques at 9 S Batavia Avenue or call 630-761-0813. The deadline to register is June 20th to be included in the coop advertising opportunities. The Batavia MainStreet Program is one of 69 not-for-profit, community based organizations in the state of Illinois. The mission of Batavia MainStreet is to enhance the identity of Batavia’s downtown area as the heart of our community. MainStreet members work through the four points: Design, Economic Restructuring, Organization and Promotion to improve the downtown district.
